Ollie’s Ski Adventure is a Wintertime Classic

Ollie’s Ski Trip by Elsa Beskow is such a perfect book to read in the midst of winter for learning about the seasons or preparing for a ski trip.

“Olles skidfärd,” Elsa Beskov, 1907.

Six-year-old Ollie is given his first pair of real skis. As soon as the snow begins to fall he heads off into the woods and meets sparkling Jack Frost, who shoos away damp Mrs Thaw.

Jack Frost takes him on an adventure to the palace of King Winter. Ollie has a wonderful time in a huge snowball fight! But will Mrs Thaw return too soon for Ollie to enjoy the snow?

Elsa Beskow (1874-1953) is one of Sweden's most beloved children's authors and illustrators. Her picture books have been known and loved for over a century and her charming stories were inspired by her own childhood adventures, as well as those of her six children. Beskow became one of the most well known of all Swedish children's book artists. Over hundred years after the release of her first book Beskow’s stories and illustrations still live strong.

Beskow’s illustration style is as gentle as her stories, clean and lovely drawings with delicate watercolours. I Love her illustration style.
